Holiday Basketball Tournament
The Riverdale Girls Basketball team defeated previously unbeaten Catlin Gabel 48-43 to win the second annual Riverdale Holiday Tournament. The victory marked three wins in three days as the Mavericks took home the girls championship with wins over Portland Waldorf, and OES in the previous round.
Riverdale Boys Basketball team lost a heart-breaker on Dec. 29th in the third place game to Faith Bible 36-38. The Mavericks defeated Portland Waldorf on the first day of the tournament, and fell to visiting Cedar Park Christian (WA) in the semi-finals. The Kennedy Trojans went on to defeat Cedar Park in the final to win the boy's holiday championship.
We were happy to have had reunion with many of our grads this week before they we trek off back to college. We learned a lot during their panel at “Grads Return Night”. The event offered much insight about how we prepare our students well for college and what we could do better, both as a school and as parents. We appreciated the great turn out for the successful program.

Drop off and Parking Lot Reminders:
To help reduce congestion during after school pick-up please follow these tips:
Do not pick up your student directly in front of the school or wait in the bus lanes. There is very little room to turn around in this area and students/staff/visitors are all walking across to cars and buses making it extremely dangerous.
Line up for student pick-up in the student parking area by going straight after entering the parking lot and looping back up and around so you are pointing back towards the entrance/exit. Turn right out of the parking lot. Please keep traffic moving out of the parking lot by going right no matter what. It can even be quicker to go around the round-a-bout and come back then try and turn left across Terwilliger.
For afternoon pick-up arrive a few minutes later for afternoon pick-up. The 15 minutes between 3:50pm and 4:05pm make a huge difference in congestion. So, take your time and avoid the parking lot traffic.
Also, please review the following rules given to us by the city that we must follow. Currently we have no additional parking spots available to students, but we are keeping a wait-list if your student wants to submit an application. Only out of district students, seniors, and juniors are allowed to submit an application. Students must re-submit an application each year to park on campus.
No parking on neighborhood streets at anytime. School starts at 9:00 a.m. No drop off of your student is permitted at the school or on the street from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Student parking spaces are limited to 25% of the enrollment. Priority is given to seniors, juniors and out of district students who get their applications turned in first.
All students must submit an Individual Student Transportation Plan to the Riverdale High School office (over). All students approved to drive to school in private vehicles must register with the office. A parking permit must be obtained from the office and be displayed in
the vehicle anytime it is parked on campus.

DonorsResource.org serves Portland non-profit organizations by providing efficient access to donated "stuff" that the agencies might need, like computers, office furniture and supplies. Della Rea, the director of DonorsResource, has been conducting an internship at Riverdale for a year, handing over responsibility for this project to a group of students who have benefited from this "real world" experience with a non-profit organization. This has been a profound experience for the students involved, and Riverdale is grateful for Della Rea's energy and generosity. We are also happy to support such a worthwhile organization.

When you come to the high school for your child’s conference you will receive your child’s EXPLORE test results. We will help you interpret the report as well as your child’s actual test scores.
Your child has already had the opportunity to see his or her results.
